Speaker + Slides

Disruption can mean finding better ways to do things.  If you’ve ever struggled with watching a video presentation and trying to quickly find something you saw earlier, you might have wondered if there is a better way than scrubbing and clicking?  There is now.  Introducing the speaker + slides function in IBM Video Streaming.

Concept

Combine the video of your presenter and the slides… and give viewers exciting new ways to control and interact.

Behind the scenes

In the broadcast settings of IBM Video Streaming, load the speaker’s slides.  You have the choice of synchronizing the slides either during the live broadcast…  or afterward in a playback re-broadcast.  The key to creating this type of presentation is synchronizing.  You’ll need to stick to the script…!

What will viewers see?

Viewers watching the live presentation will see the combined version of speaker + slides.  It’s a unique combined display with many points of interactivity.  If you post-produce the presentation (by re-broadcasting a recording of the speaker and synchronizing), then you can make the newly-combined version available to viewers on one or more channels of your platform.  We have an example below.
Want to look back or jump ahead? The slide index allows viewers to select a page of interest and instantly jump to it.

Static slides

One thing to keep in mind is that the slides in the presentation will be static images. If there were animations or other effects in the original slide presentation, the synchronized display will be static. This is a balanced approach because video of the speaker is active and static slides help viewers know where to focus.

Interactive

Use your mouse to interact with the presentation. There are five unique interactions.  Explore — you’re in control.

Creative uses

It’s fun to think about creative ways to use this innovative style of presentation. Here’s an example. Imagine that senior management wants all employees to view a specific video and pass a short test after watching it to confirm their comprehension. Of course, the use of the video can be tracked. But in the case of confirming knowledge transfer… imagine a question that is something like this… “Review the policy discussion on slide 17 of this presentation and answer the following question.” With speaker + slides on the IBM Video Streaming platform, getting to slide 17 is as easy as opening the slide index, scrolling and clicking.
